Cities Built On The Edge Of The Cliff

There are so many different type of cities in our beautiful planet. Some are small, some are big, some are old, some brand new. But in this article theworldinsideascreen.blogspot.gr is going to present you a list of cities that are build on the edge of a cliff. So please enjoy this collection and give us a comment of your impressions.

Acapulco, Mexico

Acapulco, Mexico
Do not miss your nap in Acapulco, because you will need it:you will probably dance from midnight until sunrise. The countless clubs do not let anyone get bored at night, while the bay of Acapulco and its beaches offer a place to perfect tan. The gourmet restaurants and excellent water sports will offer you an unforgettable stay.

Al Hajjara, Yemen

Al Hajjara, Yemen
The city of Al Hajjara in Yemen’s Haraz Mountains seems ancient yet modern at the same time: the taller of the brown, flat-roofed houses so precariously balanced on top of the mountain resemble early skyscrapers. Many are decorated with elaborate white friezes and patterns so typical for the region. The town’s remoteness and narrow streets suggest a close-knit community that might, in times of invasions, have allowed outsiders to enter yet not necessarily to leave…

Bandiagara Escarpment, Mali

Bandiagara Escarpment, Mali The Bandiagara Escarpment slices across the hot and dusty lands of the Sahel in Mali for over 100 miles. In itself, Bandiagara is a wonder of nature. The cliffs rise over 1,500 feet in the air at times and range in geographic diversity from desert to cascading waterfalls plummeting onto the plains below.

Bonifacio, France

Bonifacio, France Corsica is a peculiar and, at the same time, beautiful island, full of amazing beaches and majestic mountains. The Bonifacio, a port city on the southern tip of the island has a rich history. Visit the prehistoric caves Araguina-Sennola and Genoese towers. To reach the beach, cross the mountains by train - you will experience a spectacular adventure. Cycling, hiking, rafting and diving are popular activities on the island.

Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain

Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain Castellfollit de la Roca is one of the most picturesque villages in Catalonia. It is set between the Fluviá and Toronell Rivers. Its church and houses cling to the top of a spectacular basalt rock face, and this has become one of the most widely used images of the region. The old part of the village dates from the Middle Ages and is made up of squares, narrow streets and shady corners. The Josep Pla square-viewpoint is right on the edge of the cliff and offers stunning views. Its most noteworthy and beautiful locations are Sant Salvador Church, which dates from the 13th century, and, above all, the village's natural surroundings. An outing to the Cós Sanctuary is also highly recommended. Castellfollit is alongside the Garrotxa Volcanic Area Nature Reserve, a protected area with stunning landscapes.

Manarola, Italy

Manarola, Italy Manarola, my second consecutive favorite village, hanging over the small harbor with cliffs and deep green crystal clear waters inviting you to dive in and find yourself near them. Here the buildings are tall, vertical and colorful boats parked in the small openings of the main road.

Mesa Verde, Colorado

Mesa Verde, Colorado In 1978, Mesa Verde National Park was named a World Heritage Site in recognition of its exceptional archaeological relevance. Protecting thousands of archaeological sites, including hundreds of cliff dwellings, Mesa Verde National Park is perched high in Southwest Colorado where the air is thin, the history is rich, and the views are spectacular. You'll discover how Ancestral Puebloans lived with remarkable respect for the land.

Positano, Italy

Positano, Italy Positano (Positano), which was once an important pillar of a maritime superpower, is today a sophisticated resort on the central Amalfi Coast. On the steep slopes rising Moorish architecture buildings overlooking the islands of the mythical Sirens (Li Galli). In the village, there are many elegant boutiques where visitors can buy contemporary creations to wear on the beach. Also, the place is excellent for exploring the area - you can easily travel by boat to Capri, Ischia and the cave with emerald waters (Grotta dello Smeraldo).

Ronda, Spain

Ronda, Spain The most striking feature of Ronda is the Puente Nuevo, which covers a deep gorge over 300 meters. Can you imagine when was the "new bridge" built? 1793. The answer will give an explanation to the visitors for the reason that Ronda remained unchanged over the years. It is also known as the birthplace of modern bullfighting. The arena of the city's bullring is only used once a year as an exhibition center in Feria Goyesca, but it is also a museum where you can learn about the history of this traditional (though still controversial) sport.

Santorini, Greece

Santorini, Greece Santorini emits a different, but equally attractive charm. This is partly due to its geographical particularity. Popular beaches, Perissa and Kamari, with black volcanic sand, attracting many tourists like the famous Red Beach near Akrotiri. Santorini, which spreads peripherally around a huge lagoon complex of Cycladic islands, offers spectacular views of the cities that are built high in the mountains, fine cuisine, superb art galleries, nightlife and fine wines.
