I’m kicking off my Christmas in July series this Friday with my infamous finger puppets! I actually made these last December, but got so busy during the Christmas season that I didn’t have time to post them. I admit I really don’t like seeing Christmas stuff in stores in the summer, but I actually saw a Christmas aisle in my local Hobby Lobby at the beginning of JUNE – so technically I’m kind of late, right?!
What’s even stranger is that I’m headed out to the pool when I’m done putting up this post – if you really think hard about Christmas in July, it kind of fries your brain!
Christmas Finger Puppets Craft Materials List
I’ve placed a photograph next to each finger puppet with the exact materials needed for each Christmas critter. All of them require a very easy to find set of stuff:
Pipe Cleaners (Rudolf also needs the special varied width pipe cleaners for his legs – see photo below)
Pom Poms
Googly Eyes
Glue (Hot glue gun works best, but I’ve since discovered that even regular glue will suffice, it just takes longer to dry)
Wire Cutters (So you don’t ruin your scissors cutting the pipe cleaners)
The snowman finger puppet also needs dimensional fabric paint.
14 Easiest Absolutely Brilliant Christmas Decorations That You Can DIY
There are not many supplies needed for these ornaments. You can
pick up any of these supplies.
1. Fabric: You will need two different prints of fabric (for both of the
ornaments). These can be scraps or if you wish to purchase fabric
for these 1/4 yard of each will be plenty! For the rest of this tutorial I
will refer to these fabrics as fabric A and fabric B. You will also
need a main “center” fabric. This can be a character, team logo,
etc.
2. Styrofoam balls: You will need the 3 inch styrofoam balls.
3. Pins: You will need the flat head pins for this project. There are
several different kinds but, the ones I get are the long flat head pins. The shorter ones will not work to well.
4. Scissors
5. Rotary cutter or mat (optional)
6. Ruler
7. Ribbon or fabric cut into strips:
You will need 5/8 inch grosgrain or satin ribbon for the outer shell and bow at the top of the
ornament. You may also use the coordinating fabric for your outer
shell.
Decorations That You Can Do It Yourself
I made up these “Rootbeer Reindeer” for Molly’s gymnastics teacher gift. I saw the idea over at Fingerprints on the Fridge and just had to make them. I think they are so super cute!

With Christmas right around the corner there are all sorts of cute, frugal craft ideas that are sure to make someone smile. In my mind this holiday season I had anticipated making homemade ornaments, cookies, body scrubs, and so much more.
I was inspired to make these from a clay pot snowman project I saw on Hobby Lobby. They painted their scarves, but I decided to use Mod Podge and scrapbook paper. They used clay for the noses, but my faces are painted on. These cute little snowmen would make wonderful teacher’s gifts!  And this craft could easily be adapted for a women’s retreat craft or other party craft.  Enjoy making your snowman!
